Arnold McClellan’s Charitable Support of the United Way

An established San Francisco financial executive with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, Arnold McClellan maintains a commitment to charitable giving. McClellan donates annually to the United Way and notably earned membership in the nonprofit’s Tocqueville Society, which recognizes individual contributions of $10,000 or more.

Established in 1984, the Tocqueville Society aims to further the United Way’s mission through significant philanthropic endeavors. In particular, the society supports the fundamental philosophy that through quality education, underserved youth gain access to stable and rewarding careers that benefit their families and communities.

Reflecting the United Way’s strong connection with professional athletes as role models and fund-raising partners, the organization recently teamed up with NFL stars at the United Way Youth Empowerment Summit. This vital event for recruiting mentors, readers, and tutors culminated in a Day of Action that involved hundreds of United Way chapters across the country in coordinated service projects. In all, Day of Action activities spanned more than 1,000 project sites and benefitted approximately 250,000 people.

Arnold McClellan’s civic activities extend to a position on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, as well as volunteer service with his wife at the Edgewood Center for Children and Families.

Arnold McClellan Describes the San Francisco Food Bank

Affiliated with more than 450 non-profit organizations, the San Francisco Food Bank provides food to nearly a quarter-million people. Focusing on San Francisco and Marin County, this entity handles more than 45 million pounds of food every year.

Active within its community, the San Francisco Food Bank obtains food from grocery stores, growers, packagers, the United States Department of Agriculture and other groups. Trucks deliver the donations to the organization’s warehouse, where volunteers sort through the items at a rate of approximately 400 tons per week. Subsequently, the products fit for consumption are sent to pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and similar groups. Additionally, people can choose produce, canned foods, and other food items at distribution events styled after traditional farmers’ markets.
